Experience the heart of outback Queensland on this tour of Longreach and Winton. It covers all of the best things to see and do in Longreach including a visit to a Station, cruise on the Thomson River, visit to Stockman Hall of Fame & Qantas Founders Museum. We stay in Winton for 2 days and visit the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum, and Waltzing Matilda Centre and explore Winton.

Day 1 – Wednesday 9 July 2025
You will be met at Longreach airport or Longreach train station on arrival and transferred to your motel. 3 nights in Longreach with breakfast daily.
Day 2 – Thursday 10 July 2025
After breakfast, we will visit the Qantas Founders Museum for a tour around the aircraft and museum. Explore the main exhibition hall, Catalina Flying Boat and National Heritage Listed Hangar on a self-guided museum tour, followed by a 90-minute guided tour exploring iconic aircraft including the Douglas DC-3, Lockheed Super Constellation, Boeing 707 and Boeing 747 with one of our experienced tour guides. We will then drive to the Australian Stockman’s Hall of fame for our Stockman’s Experience tour. It includes entry to the galleries, A Stockman’s Life – Live show in the undercover arena and experience sheep muster, working dogs, horsemanship and stockman activities. We can have lunch whilst there. Free time this afternoon.
This afternoon at 4.00pm we will join the Drover’s Sunset Cruise with Smithy’s Outback Dinner and Show. We will cruise on the Thomson River aboard MV Longreach Explorer and watch the sun set followed by a 2-course dinner when we dock. Relax under the stars with table service featuring camp oven themed modern cuisine and live entertainment. Return to the hotel at approximately 8pm.

Day 3 – Friday 11 July 2025
After breakfast, we will do the Cobb & Co Stage Coach Experience. We will board an old stagecoach, where we will have a 45min ride just as a pioneer would have done, along the old Longreach-
Windorah mail route. You will even get to gallop in the stagecoach. The experience also includes a delicious outback smoko, a classic bush movie in the old theatrette and the Old Time Tent Show.
Lunch and free time this afternoon.
Be ready at 4.45pm for our Camden Park Station and Longreach Station Progressive Dinner Tour.
We will experience both stations and learn about the history and workings of the stations of both sheep and cattle. We will have a paddock to plate dinner, featuring their home-grown beef.

Day 4 – Saturday 12 July 2025
After breakfast, we will check out of our accommodation and depart for Winton which is approximately a 2-hour drive. On arrival in Winton, we will have time to explore Winton township. After lunch we will visit the Waltzing Matilda Centre. Check in to our motel for our overnight stay in Winton. We will go on the Rangelands Rifts & Sunset Tour at 4pm. A short drive to Rangelands Station where erosion has created narrow channels or rifts through the rock. We explore these formations and enjoy a spectacular view from the sunset lookout. Arrive back to Winton around 7pm. We will then go to the Gondwana Stars Observatory for a view of the night sky

Day 5 – Sunday 13 July 2025
After breakfast, check out of the motel, and we will travel to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum. The Ultimate Dinosaur tour at Australian Age of Dinosaurs includes a guided tour of the Fossil Preparation Laboratory, Collection Room in the Reception Centre, “March of the Titanosaurs" exhibition and a self-guided exploration of Dinosaur Canyon. We will have the about 4 hours here, time for lunch at the café before driving back to Longreach.
This evening, we will travel to the Qantas Founders Museum to see the Luminescent light show for a 25-minute light and sound spectacular showcasing 100 years of Qantas history projected onto the side of our iconic aircraft. After the light show we will have dinner in town. (B)
Day 6 – Monday 14 July 2025
Today our tour comes to an end in Longreach, so after checking out of our motel, you will be transferred to the Longreach train station or Longreach airport for your trip home.
