Arrive in Osaka today and you will be met and transferred from the airport to our hotel in Osaka. We will have 2 night’s accommodation In Osaka to give us time to see the highlights for Osaka.
After breakfast, we will meet our Japanese guide who will be with us for the duration of our tour. Today we will visit Osaka Castle, as it towers over the city of Osaka, Umeda Sky Building offering 360-degree views over Osaka, Kuramon Market for all the amazing Japanese food choices, and the lively entertainment area of Dotonbori which is Osaka’s most famous tourist destination, renowned for its gaudy neon lights, extravagant signage and large variety of restaurants and bars.

This morning after breakfast we will be transferred to the train station to take the shinkansen to Hiroshima. The Shinkansen, also known as the “bullet train”, offers a unique and high-speed travel experience in Japan, travelling up to 320 klm/hour. We will be met and transferred to our Okonomiyaki making experience, where we will learn how to make Japanese street food. These delicious savory pancakes are filled with cabbage, scallions, and more. We will then be transferred to our hotel to check in. This afternoon we will visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Atomic Bomb Dome. The Hiroshima Peace Memorial was the only structure left standing in the area where the first atomic bomb exploded on 6 August 1945. Learn about the tragic effects of nuclear warfare and the importance of peace and includes a visit to the museum.

After breakfast today, we will have a full day sightseeing tour. We will then take the ferry over to Miyajima Island and explore the sights including Itsukushima Shrine and Miyajima Ropeway. Miyajima is a small island less than an hour outside the city of Hiroshima. It is most famous for its giant torii gate, which at high tide seems to float on the water. We will wander around the township, have lunch and taste some of their famous oysters. You will see wild deer roaming freely.

This morning after breakfast, we will take a tour of the Mazda factory. Founded in 1920, MAZDA is a Japanese car company operating globally from Hiroshima. We invite you to learn about our journey that has spanned over a century. After the tour we will take the Shinkansen up to Kyoto. On arriving in Kyoto, we will have lunch, following by a traditional tea ceremony experience. We will then be transferred to our hotel to check in.

After breakfast today, we will be doing a tour around Kyoto seeing all of the main sights including Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and we will take an easy walk through the forest. Otagi Nenbutsu-ji is a Buddhist temple located in the hillside of the Arashiyama. It is known for the 1200 moss-covered rakan statues that cover the hillside around the temple grounds. Then we will continue to Fushimi Inari Shrine is an important Shinto shrine in southern Kyoto. It is famous for its thousands of torii gates. We will also visit to Kinkakuji, the Golden Temple.

We will take the train to Nara and explore the area. See the mochi pounding store where they use the traditional mochitsuki pounding method to turn sticky rice into rice cakes which are a popular Japanese dessert. We will have time to feed the deer in Nara Park, and visit Todaiji Temple. We will return to Kyoto by train and have dinner.

After breakfast, we will be transferred to the station to take the Shinkansen to Nagoya. On arrival in Nagoya, our coach and driver will meet us, for our drive through to Matsumoto today. We will have a drive of around 1 hour to Obara Shikizakura Festival for a walk around to see the autumn leaves and cherry blossoms flowering. This is the only area of Japan that has Shikizakura Cherry Blossom trees that flower in autumn and spring. From here we will drive to Magome, a traditional Japanese town in the Kiso Valley, that has been beautifully restored, and is part of the Nakasendo Trail. Next there is a short drive to Ryujin Waterfall which is located in Yumori Park. This is one of around 50 waterfalls that are in this area and is beautiful in all seasons. We will continue on and arrive at Matsumoto late afternoon, where we will be staying overnight.

After breakfast, we will have a short visit to Matsumoto Castle, before we begin our drive to the Mt Fuji area. We drive to Lake Kawaquchiko, one of the 5 lakes in this district. One of the best locations for autumn colour viewing is “Momiji Tunnel”, and “Momiji Corridor” where maple trees are in their glory. We will take the Mount Fuji Panoramic Ropeway ascending 400 metres and have a panoramic view of the lake below and Mount Fuji. We will visit Itchiku Kubota Art Museum. An excellent museum about the kimono artist, Kubota Itchiku. He was the artist who revived the lost art of Tsujigahana silk dyeing, used to decorate elaborate kimonos. We will make our way to our hotel where you can enjoy the onsen (hot springs) at the hotel.

This morning after breakfast, we will drive to Oshino Hakkai Village. It’s a small area that features traditional village houses, shops and watermills set against a spectacular backdrop of Mt Fuji. We will then drive to Park Café on Lake Yamanaka for the famous Japanese fluffy pancakes while having a fabulous view of Mt Fuji. We will then drive to Mishima Sky Walk, which is a picturesque scenery spot where you can see Mt Fuji from a gigantic suspension bridge. A total length of 400m, it is Japan’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge. After lunch, we will be going to Hakone Open Air Museum. The museum has various different sections and exhibition spaces both indoors and outdoors. From here, we will leave Hakone and continue on to our hotel for the night.

This morning, we will continue to Tokyo and do some sightseeing there before checking into our hotel. Asakusa’s main attraction is Sensoji, a very popular Buddhist temple built in the 7th century. The temple is reached via Nakamise, a shopping street that has been providing temple visitors with traditional souvenirs and snacks. This afternoon we will explore Shinjuku, and visit Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. Walk down Meiji Jingu Gaien Gingko Avenue, which is an incredible street lined with gingko trees and in autumn it is just beautiful. Tokyo Skytree is the world's tallest freestanding broadcasting tower with an observation deck boasting 360-degree views. After sightseeing, we will check into our hotel for our 3-night stay in Tokyo.

This morning, we will visit the famous Shibuya Crossing, which is the world’s busiest pedestrian crossing with as many as 3,000 people crossing at a time. Take Shibuya Sky to the 47th floor and see incredible 360-degree unobstructed views over Tokyo. From the 14th floor you ascend to the Sky Gallery on escalators in a futuristic tunnel lined with atmospheric lighting. We will see a robot café and perhaps have lunch there. Free time this afternoon. Tonight, we will see Tokyo Night and Light projection show which adds colour to Tokyo at night.

This morning, we will go to TeamLab Planets, which is a sensory museum experience where you walk through water, experience the floating flower garden and crystal universe where you become immersed in your surroundings. This afternoon we will have an indigo dyeing experience using genuine indigo dye that has been passed down since ancient times in Japan, we will make an item to take home with you as a keepsake. We will then make our way to the Samurai Ninja Museum, where we will have a museum tour, and watch a ninja star throwing experience and hopefully a samurai and sword demonstration.

Today is our last day in Japan, so we will need to check out of our hotel this morning and leave our luggage at reception. Today, we can walk the gardens of the Imperial Palace, located in a large park area surrounded by moats and massive stone walls. It is the residence of the Japanese Imperial family. Free time to do any last-minute shopping before travelling to the airport late afternoon.
